April 16

back from the west highland way

Le SACRE du PRINTEMPS (the rite of spring)

Like Picasso's painting it is very difficult to understand Stravinsky's music, especially when he use the abstract method to preformance his abstrct pieces. However, i seem to find the clue of his most famous music--The Rite of Spring after my bloody, crazy, busy september in 2007. (Very sorry to my spaces, i can't update you until now.)

On my first day back i told to my headmaster i arranged a busy summer vocation in China and would like to spend a comfortable holiday during the semester in Britain, it's just a joke. But the truth is my life will only becomg busier and busier, everything heppened in a reverse way, my life in September was dominated by lectures, logical thinking and english skill exams, university application, interviews with the local councilors and the new Chinese students... ...God! The hardest aspect was not completing all the things step by step, the mean thing was i always run out of my arrangement because the councilors could speak as long as he want noboday can interrupt their topic, so 4 hours, 5 hours went without notice, also because the information requirement for the decision making were unpredictable it was difficult to say 'i can finish it before ****', however, you need to know when you have to finish them whick embarassed me most. Anyway i will come back to the orbit soon, i trust this all the while. Since my Cambridge application form has sent yestoday, first, i remove the pressure in this semester, i can cross my fingers and wait for the next event now.

Let's come back to the music, the uncertain and changeable elements or inducements in the Rite of Spring are not only just reflect the aboriginality and the demonolatry, but also reflect the unperdictable destiny for the dancing girl and the indigenes, because the girl cannot stop dancing on the fire until she died, she don't know when is her deadline the only thing she know is her die can bring the lucky to the whole area. Therefore during her dance we can hear from the music that she is willing to died but also worry about it at the same time. The songs of indigenes are not a kind of against, in reverse that's a kind of esteem to both the girl and the natural environment. The key for the whole piece of symphony is the combination of unpredictable and hope, that's what my experience tell me.

Although the future is unpredictable, i can keep the hope and try my best to fulfill it, dancing on the fire is also a kind of beauty, isn't it?

News From Hartlepool Mail 12/09/2007

Chinese students flock to college

CHINESE students have travelled more than 5,000 miles to do their A-levels...in Hartlepool.
Thirteen students have enrolled at Hartlepool Sixth Form College to begin two years of A-levels and GCSEs.
The college has seen the number of students from the Far East exceed their expectations after its popularity grew and its teachers travelled to Shanghai and Guangzhou to teach maths.
Just three students were expected but 13 have enrolled this year, the second year the scheme has been run.
The students come from Beijing, Shangai, Guangzhou, Dongguan and Foshan and have previously been studying an intensive course in York to learn English.
Joe Zhou, from Guangzhou in China, arrived at the college last year. He is studying maths, further maths and physics.
He gained 100 per cent in five out of his nine examinations and is looking forward to applying to Cambridge University to read mechanical engineering.
Joe, 19, said: "The college is quite nice and all the staff take care of me. I really enjoy it. Here, I get more spare time for reading and playing sports than I did in China."
Carole Horseman, assistant principal at the college, said: "The students' parents said they wanted their children to have an English education so their sons and daughters become truly international and can move from west to east with comfort and ease.
"The students can't get over the fact that they are not working 14 hours a day, like they do in China. It's a big culture shock."
The young people are living with families in Hartlepool and accommodation is always being sought. Anyone interested in providing accommodation should contact the college on (01429) 294444.

June 30

thank you board

How time flies! I can't believe 10 months have already behind me, everything went so quiet, natural and smooth, i even ask myself if i can sense it. Out of the window the torrential downpour has kept raining for the whole night, it fresh my brain, help me to  gloss over all the negative things and wake all the positive things up. Everybody who ever help me or make me growing will not be sweet away, on this stage i have to say thank you to all of you.

  • At first i have to say thank you to my parents and elderships, all of them work very hard and encourage me to study abroad, in their word is they loan me the money to study oversea. They give me the opportunity to open my eye-shot and enjoy the cultural's different.
  • Henry Dong the student who is studying in John League College and his parents,. they persuaded me and my parents to give up the senior high school's study in China. Dong has been accepted by Oxford, he is very kind to share his experience with me, show me his road to Oxford.
  • Lin Yen, Oxford graduate student and former teacher in No. 7 Middle School, I'm not sure how many times of thank you i need to tell her. She has begun to help me since i landed in Amsterdam. At that time she was the first person who contacted to my college about the airline trouble, under her help i had a good dream in the airport. She showed me the city of Oxfort, and provided me some free yummy meals during i visit there.
  • Adrian Bostock, the director of carrer education and guidance in my college. He is a typical British gentlemen, help me to apply Oxbridge. But the most improtant thing i need to thanks him is my showers during X-mas and new year, er...I think i need to thanks his family as well, for their kind and the nice X-mas dinner.

  • Ken Horseman, my mathematic tutor. We always debate for some math problems, his lesson is my favourite lesson so far, i like his humor and his chocolate box.
  • Charles Howells, my physics tutor. Although his language and hand writing are both terrible, in physics bright brain and experimentations are everything.
  • Julie Ronklsey, my geography tutor who gives me the one to one geography tutorial.
  • Adem Lee, my physics classmate who helped me a lot when i just came with the poor english.
  • Jean Ash, the librarian in the college who gives me the free newspaper every day after college.
  • Jale, Cambridge current undergraduate student from Wales. We made friends during my hiking on the Hadrian's Wall, he is a very good printer, he showed me the Cambridge in his brain and on his pictures.
  • Tony, the badminton UK champion in over 50 group, the captain of our badminton team.
  • The Chinese teenager table tennis team, they emploied me as a translator which is my first formal job.
  • All the runners in Hartlepool, all of you pushed me very hard for the long distance cross-country.
  • A pair of Chinese couple i met in Windermere, under your encourage and lie, i got a very high level start of hinking in UK which was 34 miles walking in 13 hours.
  • The farmer who work in the West Farm Grassmere. Once i saw the farm, once i saw him, i known i rescued myself from the marshland and dense fog successfully, he is the only witness at that stage.
  • The formal army from Hongkong who showed me how to hunt the foxes on the field in scarbought.
  • Two archeologist who took me into the Vindalanda Roman Fort to see the British treasure and the excavation work.
  • The local woman who showed me the 'secret' path follow the South Type River.

 ......

No matter what happen in the future, my stories will be continued, just before it goes let me say thank you again to all the key persons who made me growing. Their names will be the best index for my personal history. THANK YOU!
